Geophysics team Investigate Roman Remains
Met GeoEnvironmental’s Geophysics Team undertook a
successful investigation at Verulamium Park to ascertain of the exact location
of Roman remains for St Albans Council. The Roman town Verulamium became the
third largest Roman town in Britain, and was given the formal title and status
of municipium in the first century AD, possibly around AD 70. Using GPR and
magnetometer techniques, a Roman crossroads and building remains contemporary
with the roadways were clearly identified. The client was delighted with the
clarity and presentation of the findings.
Building Schools for ther Future
How a change in Government can affect things! Like many consultants we have been
very involved with BSF (Building Schools for the Future) projects around the UK
over the past few years until that overnight change. Fortunately a few of the
schemes we’ve been involved with are moving forward, the Hull BSF for example.
All of Met’s surveyors and geophysicists are CRB checked making working in schools
and colleges during term time a viable option for clients. Typically, on most
schemes we have provided, topographical and
measured building surveys, and
utility
mapping with CCTV surveys for existing drainage. However, our
engineers have also
provided transport assessments and travel plans including for the Bradford Academy.
Stratford City in the Olympic Village
We’ve been doing our bit for 2012 too! We worked with
John Aynsley’s Architectural
Metalwork to set out the positions for the impressive atrium and walkways
being constructed as part of the new Marks and Spencer at Stratford City in the
Olympic Village. Dave Benson, Technical Director at John Aynley’s commented
“although the site visit did not go according to plan due to site
logistics, the team from Met Surveys were excellent in providing the required
points on the relevant floors in order for us to position the walkways at a
later date”.
Thanks Dave, it was a pleasure to be of service.
